We're delighted to announce that Blyth U15's are the very first winners of our new Team of the Month Award for September 2018.
The judging panel had a really tough decision, as all the nominations submitted displayed winning qualities and they would like to thank everyone who nominated. It was felt, however, that the boys from Blyth had displayed particular resilience and a determination to carry on playing rugby, despite the difficulties encountered.
Assistant Coach, Andy Carr, said "following the recent Football World Cup, Blyth RFC U15 have lost a number of players to football. This has resulted in the team only having 12 players. They've played 10's for the first part of a fixture and then mixed with the opposition to play full sided games.
Despite this, the players are still regularly turning up for training and looking forward to fixtures. At no time have they become disheartened or bemoaned their situation but have risen to the challenge of trying to recruit new players and also playing to the best of their abilities."
Northumberland Rugby Union sends their congratulations to Blyth U15's and wishes them the best of luck in recruiting new players for the 2018/19 season.
The team wins 20 tickets to the European Challenge Cup being held on Friday, 10th May 2019 at St James Park, Newcastle. The Team of the Month Award is very kindly supported by the Newcastle 2019 European Club Rugby Finals. Tickets for both events are selling fast, and Clubs are urged to book early to avoid disappointment.
