We're delighted to announce that October's Team of the Month Award goes to Tynedale Panthers U15s girls team. Huge congratulations to the girls and also well done to all teams nominated. It's great to hear and read about all the fantastic rugby achievements taking place in our county and it's always a hard decision for the judging panel to select a winner.
Here's what Nick Oliver, Lead Coach for Tynedale Panthers, had to say about the team:
'The Tynedale Panthers U15s have started the new season very well. Player numbers are at a record high for a Tynedale U15s girls team this early in the season and with a mixture of girls still in U15s from last season, girls moving up from U13s and new players. The future looks bright.
The U15s captain Gemma Bell has just been invited to join the Scotland U16s early talent development squad and the team can expect to provide at least 6-10 players to the county squad as they have in recent years.
They are a talented team who so far this season are unbeaten in cup, friendly and festival matches but more importantly than this they welcome and assimilate players of all abilities and experience with the older more experienced players encouraging the new squad members. They are a closely bonded group who exemplify all that is good about rugby.'
The team wins 20 tickets to the European Challenge Cup being held on Friday, 10th May 2019 at St James Park, Newcastle. The Team of the Month Award is very kindly supported by the Newcastle 2019 European Club Rugby Finals.
