Roles and Responsibilities
To act as a co-ordinator for all matters arising for the designated squads including communication with all stakeholders (RFU/Newcastle Falcons/other CBs/players and parents).
To work closely with coaches at local clubs, schools, colleges and the Falcons Academy to ensure the role of County rugby in a player’s development is understood and integral to the progress of the more talented players in the County. In addition to consult with those coaches to help identify players capable of playing at this level.
In conjunction with the Chair of Representative Rugby and the Senior County Coach ensure the group has a suitably qualified and able Head Coach and that they likewise manage a group of high quality Assistant Coaches. Ensure that the Coaching Group perform to the highest standards at all times and are encouraged to avail themselves of any CPD opportunities to improve their own performance in their roles.
To maintain adequate documentation of all players including updating the County records for the designated squads using Excel and Dropbox software adhering at all times to the published NRU GDPR Policy.
To organise appropriate dates and venues for any trials, training sessions and matches and to notify the County Office of these dates for timely circulation to all clubs. Ensure any catering requirements are communicated to host clubs.
To ensure there is adequate first aid and medical cover in accordance with County policy for all games and training sessions.
To work with the Head Coach/Assistant Coaches and act as Chairman of the Designated Age Group Selection Panel.
To be responsible for the appropriate conduct and dress of players on matchdays.
To be responsible for travel arrangements and all liaison with opposing team management.
To ensure County Ties are available for presentation where applicable.
To be responsible for purchasing and maintaining in good condition all kit for the designated squads under the direction of the Chair of Representative Rugby and in line with any sponsorship /supply arrangements that may be in place. Appoint a kit manager if required.
To be responsible for providing Match Reports as required including communicating match results to the RFU and NRU for their respective websites.
To be accountable to the Representative Rugby Committee on all matters regarding the administration of the team and to report to the Committee as requested including attending all Representative Rugby Committee meetings held throughout the year.
