The Beach Boys!
Following the recent success of the girl’s beach rugby festival on 22nd June, it was the turn for the U15’s boy’s beach festival which took place on Friday 29th June, also at Longsands, Tynemouth.
This touch rugby event was attended by over 300 boys, making up 27 teams representing a total of 18 schools from across the area. The day was well planned and executed by the RFU staff with funding coming via Northumberland Rugby Union and was thoroughly enjoyed by all who came along.
We’re delighted to say that we’ve heard of at least 5 new players joining North Shields RFC following the festival. Please let us know at County Office if your club has also had new players enlisting as a direct result of this great initiative. Just give the office a call on 0191 2864399.
These touch rugby beach festivals are integral to growing rugby in our region and it’s great to see such positive results from all the hard work put in by the staff involved.
