Our huge congratulations go to Morpeth U15 girls for winning the Area 6 Northern Final of the National Cup.  The girls travelled to Billingham to face Old Brodleians from South Yorkshire, the team having reached this stage following victories against Alnwick, Northumberland Baabaas, Tynedale, Ryton and Darlington Mowden Park.

The girls got off to a subdued start and allowed Old Brodleians to take an early lead following a quick break from their winger.  Morpeth took to their game plan and started to deliver the quick ball for powerful runners to make yards. The half time score was 21-5 following 3 tries from Amy Carr, Liv Taylor and Amber Lawless; all converted by Amber.

The second half started in the same way as the first with an early try seeing Amy Carr tearing up the blind side to race over in the corner. Morpeth then spent the next 10 minutes defending bravely with big tackles from Hannah Bishop, Charlotte Young, Emma Gerrard amongst others.

Another try followed from Amber Lawless as Morpeth forwards started to take control and create quick balls for the backline. In the final stages Amy Carr completed her hat trick and Lottie Glover Stewart crashed over after a quick penalty. Amber Lawless converted 5 tries in very testing conditions.

Throughout the game all the players and subs fronted up and tackled, ran and supported brilliantly against a committed Old Brodleians Side who where a credit to themselves.

Final score 45-5 meaning that Morpeth U15s Girls are in the top 6 teams in the country and travel to the National Semi Finals day in Derby in early April and we wish them the very best of luck and will look forward to hearing how they got on.
