Morpeth RFC and the wider rugby community are going all out to support Oliver Bultitude. Aged 17, Olly was a key member of the colts team at Morpeth RFC, however, in August 2018 he was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma in his knee joint, a form of bone cancer. This meant his leg needed to be amputated and he has undergone an aggressive course of chemotheraphy. His fellow team mates and all at Morpeth RFC wanted to support Olly in any way they could. They set about designing and selling a t-shirt to raise awareness and funds to assist with purchasing a special prosthetic sports leg, which will enable Olly to be involved in sport again.
Sales of the t-shirt have gone well and at the recent County Colts Plate Final (Morpeth v Berwick), Morpeth colts wore their Team Olly t-shirts during warm-up in support of the campaign. As is typical of our Northumberland rugby family, other clubs are now also getting behind this initiative, with Alnwick 2nds wearing the t-shirts prior to their Cup Final with Morpeth a couple of weeks ago.
If you’d like to support this campaign too, t-shirts can be purchased from Morpeth for just £10 payable by bank transfer, account details as follows: Morpeth RFC Acc. No. 11066293 Sort Code 40-37-3; please use your name as reference and then email John Stafford at firstname.lastname@example.org. Let him know you have paid and give him your name and size and he'll let you know when you can pick your t-shirt from the clubhouse. Alternatively t-shirts can be purchased for cash from behind the bar in the clubhouse at Morpeth RFC.
A Just-Giving page has also been set up, which provides more information about Olly and a chance for you to donate to this fundraising initiative. Just click here.
