Newcastle School for Boys receive formal recognition from RFU

National Vase final commemorative trophy

Following the cancellation of the National Schools Vase final at Twickenham in March, it was fantastic for the school to receive formal recognition of their achievement this week.

A letter from Bill Sweeney (RFU CEO) and Eddie Jones (England coach) accompanied a superb glass commemorative trophy which the boys were thrilled to receive.

Despite not being able to receive the trophy, last year's 1st XV captain Fergus Simpson said "whilst it is sad we didn't get to take the field at Twickenham, it was a fantastic journey and I'll always look back on my time at NSB, and particularly that season, with great happiness".

The National cup run was one of many highlights from the unbeaten 2019-2020 season.

Current 1st XV captain and his fellow Y13 1st XV players from last season are pictured here with the National Vase trophy, along with the Tom Burrows Cup, Hadrian Cup and Northumberland Schools Cup which were all won last season.
