We are delighted to announce that Noel Mather of Whitley Bay Rockcliff Rugby Football Club, has been appointed as the new President of Northumberland Rugby Union.
Noel joins an esteemed group of Rockcliff members who have previously held this position, dating back to J Thompson in 1912.
Noel’s appointment is a testament to his lifelong dedication to rugby and his invaluable contributions to Rockcliff and Northumberland Rugby Union.
Noel’s journey in rugby spans over four decades, during which he has been one of Rockcliff’s most loyal and dedicated members. As a player, he was known for his fearless tackling and leadership on the field, serving as Club Captain from 1996 to 2001. Beyond his playing years, Noel continued to support Rockcliff tirelessly, serving on the General Committee as well as First Team Manager, Touch Judge, and assisting in coaching the Colts team.
In addition to his commitment to Rockcliff, Noel has played a vital role within Northumberland Rugby Union, most recently as the Senior Men’s Team Manager and Vice President. His extensive experience and dedication to the sport make him an excellent fit for the role of President.
