“Oot and Aboot” as the new season begins!

Last Saturday saw the start of the new season with Board members “oot and aboot” at clubs within the County!

One of the changes the board committed to was to become more visible around our clubs. Over the season we intend to visit as many clubs as we can and will be available to discuss any queries and look to provide support where we can.

Saturday 7th September, the opening weekend of the season, saw Graham Crozier, our Honorary Secretary, as the referee for the Novos Ladies v Blaydon game – congratulations to Novos on their win. After completing his match official duties, Graham was available to meet and chat with players and club members.

Ian Moralee, Director of Rugby,  was at the Ponteland v Horden & Peterlee game to see a thrilling 34-34 draw and spent time talking with various club officials.

Keith Atkinson, our Club Development Director invited the board to the Percy Park v Driffield game that was officiated by Ricky Handa our Director of Governance. After an excellent pre match lunch, we were entertained to a very close run game with Park winning by the closest of margins. To round off the day, our Finance Director, Brian Russell, managed a win on the raffle and headed home with a couple of bottles of wine.

We’ll be “oot and aboot” over the coming weeks and months, and hope to support County President Noel Mather and the Presidential team along with RFU Council Representative Penny Stewart on their club visits. Our Chair, Lee Weatherley, will be attending a volunteers thank you event at North Shields next Saturday.

Please let us know if you have any upcoming events that you would like the board to attend and we’ll do our best to accommodate – we also promise to try and not win the raffle!
