Women’s Rugby World Cup 2025 (Women’s RWC 25) – Lead up and Legacy Programme
VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY
Northumberland Rugby Football Union is seeking dynamic, committed volunteers to join their Lead up and Legacy Programme for Women’s RWC 25.
We are looking for applications from our rugby community to join the committee to assist with the organisation and role out of the Women’s RWC 25 Lead up and Legacy Programme across Northumberland.
With an overarching objective to encourage more females to play, be involved and enjoy rugby across our Clubs and CB, we are looking for enthusiastic volunteers from all sectors of the game i.e. players, match officials, administrators, teachers, parents etc, who have a passion to help us grow the female game in Northumberland.
This is an exciting time with the Women’s World Cup opening game to be held at the Stadium of Light in Sunderland in August 2025 and a great opportunity for us to showcase rugby union across Northumberland.

Nature and Scope
- This is a volunteer role
- Three subcommittees will be developed to encourage more female participants across the following areas:
- On the pitch
- In the game
- At the club
Responsibilities
To assist with the preparation and planning of a programme of initiatives and activities to encourage more females to get involved in rugby.
To attend meetings and sub-committee meetings when required
To assist with the preparation and planning of events across the County and to attend and assist at such events.
To develop relationships with stakeholders and particularly work closely with the clubs across Northumberland
To assist with the setting and reporting of key performance indicators and targets
To seek and support fundraising opportunities
To utilise social media to promote events and initiatives
Preferred Skills and Personal Attributes
Strong Planning Ability
Collaborative Team Player
Effective Communicator
Experience of either playing (contact or non-contact), coaching, refereeing or rugby administration
Experience of the female game preferred but not essential
Positive mindset and determination to make this opportunity count
Passionate about supporting females in their rugby journey

It is anticipated that this programme will run for one year from October 2024 to November 2025.
